The last venture of 2010

26th DEC 2010 :

Its 4pm the Kites team with much contentment of
having done a philanthropic deed reports from oxford orphanage a place for the mentally retarded people.

It has been a long cherished dream of this team to cater to the needs of less privileged and distressed .we have been helping these people for the past six months and the oxford orphanage is the last in 2010.





Today our purpose is fulfilled , few of us from Vellore brought
blankets and clothes to Chennai, along this we purchased 100kg of rice, 100 bathing soap, 100washing soaps, and 15 liters of cooking oil.

We reached the orphanage at 2 pm and handed over the materials to the in charge of the orphanage .some we distributed to the members of the home

The remaining clothes that were collected were distributed to poor people along the roadside in vellore on Republic Day by some of our KITES members.

The little things what we did for them brightened their faces and
truly there could be no other joy than this one……………….

DECEMBER VENTURE

After two months of little work,It is time for us to start our usual activities.As we were gathering ideas for our next venture,we got many interesting ideas from many of the members.I kindly ask those members to post it in the comments section of the website,so that every member of our society gets to know about it and reply with thier views.
And we also would like to thank Mr.Avinash for his efforts to find us a worthwhile activity(See his comment below).We contacted him and the concerned social worker for the necessary steps.And we found out that our help is not needed for them as of now,and they will contact us if they needed any.
Now coming to the topic,We considered many ideas of our mambers and finally chose to help OXFORD HOME in THAMBARAM,CHENNAI.The reason for choosing this over other home's and ideas is because of the poor state of that home.Some Of our members in Chennai went to the home and saw the condition of it and also talked to the concerned persons.They found out that,Unlike other homes,this home is not sponsored by anyone and around 200 people live in 3 small rented houses.The people of the home are mentally retarded persons left in this home by thier relatives.The family member pays the money for the first month to admit the person but never sends the money or comes to the home after that.
Listening to thier concerns,We have decided to provide them with food and clothes.They also said that if we buy them a tailoring machine,they will earn money through it for thier living.So we have also promised to give them two tailoring machines.One tailoring machine costs around 4000rs.So friends,this time you need to contribute two things,money and clothes.Collect your old but useful clothes-balnkets and sweaters would be great as they will need it in the winter season.Every other details will be messaged.
