The last venture of 2010

26th DEC 2010 :

Its 4pm the Kites team with much contentment of
having done a philanthropic deed reports from oxford orphanage a place for the mentally retarded people.

It has been a long cherished dream of this team to cater to the needs of less privileged and distressed .we have been helping these people for the past six months and the oxford orphanage is the last in 2010.





Today our purpose is fulfilled , few of us from Vellore brought
blankets and clothes to Chennai, along this we purchased 100kg of rice, 100 bathing soap, 100washing soaps, and 15 liters of cooking oil.

We reached the orphanage at 2 pm and handed over the materials to the in charge of the orphanage .some we distributed to the members of the home

The remaining clothes that were collected were distributed to poor people along the roadside in vellore on Republic Day by some of our KITES members.

The little things what we did for them brightened their faces and
truly there could be no other joy than this one……………….

DECEMBER VENTURE

After two months of little work,It is time for us to start our usual activities.As we were gathering ideas for our next venture,we got many interesting ideas from many of the members.I kindly ask those members to post it in the comments section of the website,so that every member of our society gets to know about it and reply with thier views.
And we also would like to thank Mr.Avinash for his efforts to find us a worthwhile activity(See his comment below).We contacted him and the concerned social worker for the necessary steps.And we found out that our help is not needed for them as of now,and they will contact us if they needed any.
Now coming to the topic,We considered many ideas of our mambers and finally chose to help OXFORD HOME in THAMBARAM,CHENNAI.The reason for choosing this over other home's and ideas is because of the poor state of that home.Some Of our members in Chennai went to the home and saw the condition of it and also talked to the concerned persons.They found out that,Unlike other homes,this home is not sponsored by anyone and around 200 people live in 3 small rented houses.The people of the home are mentally retarded persons left in this home by thier relatives.The family member pays the money for the first month to admit the person but never sends the money or comes to the home after that.
Listening to thier concerns,We have decided to provide them with food and clothes.They also said that if we buy them a tailoring machine,they will earn money through it for thier living.So we have also promised to give them two tailoring machines.One tailoring machine costs around 4000rs.So friends,this time you need to contribute two things,money and clothes.Collect your old but useful clothes-balnkets and sweaters would be great as they will need it in the winter season.Every other details will be messaged.

What Is Our Next Plan?

Short Venture for this month:
As everyone of you know that we are almost inactive for the last month,thanks to the semester exams round the corner.After a lot of discussion with our fellow members,we have come up with a few ideas for our next few months.We do not want to disturb any of you still the end of your exams,so no big assignments are planned till the end of november.
First of all, We are pleased to see members coming out with thier suggestions.As you would all have noticed one of our members Sriram has asked for our help for his friend who is need.So,we have decided to give the sum he had asked as soon as possible.We have also given a sum of 500 rs to a worker in shrishti school,Mrs.Vijayalakshmi,for her daughter's medical expenses.We are also planning to sponsor a tailoring machine for a woman.All details of the above will be put up after they are done.
We hope many people will come forward like sriram to share thier ideas.It would be nice for our members to help thier own kin and to know that thier money is spent for people,who are really in need.

Future Ideas:
For our next venture, we have thought about conducting a big tree plantation in and around Vellore and Chennai.If all things go according to plan we will be able to do it in december.
Also we have found a home called Oxford Home in Thambaram and a leprosy home in vellore which needs a lot of help.One such help we can do is give them clothes and blankets,as cold season is nearing,to them.So,All members are asked to collect as much clothes as possible from thier neighbours and friends.We will give information of where to give this clothes soon.
And for the above mentioned ideas we need a lot of finance.We are seeking sponsors who can help us .Though this month's ventures were small and needed less money, we would like members to contribute this month and next month as well so that we can accomplish a greater goal in december.

A SUCCESSFUL VENTURE

DATE: 12th September:

As everyone gathered in “ANBU ILLAM” at sainathapuram around 10:00am, The function started with a prayer song,sung by the girls. Then the members of the society lightened the Diaz and then welcome note was delivered by Jaison Deepak.
Then the games to be conducted for the students of “ANBU ILLAM” were listed. Various events like drawing competition, running race, music chair, etc, were conducted to the students of the home accordingly. The games were conducted with the help of staff from the home.The members organised the games with great fun and made thier day unforgettable. The winners were awarded with prizes by the members later and also consolation prizes to everyone were given.
Later around 1:00pm the members of the society served food to the students of the home, as well as ate along with them. The members shared a moment of joy with the students of home and i am sure it was a wonderful experience.
After Lunch a small meeting was held and the future objectives of the society were discussed by the members. Then, on the way back snacks and chocolates were distributed to the students of”SHISHU BHAVAN” at officers’ lane, Vellore.



DATE: 13th September:

As decided earlier, 25 needy students in and around Vellore from Voorhees school, arcot boys high school, kacheri school and kangeynallur boys high school were provided with their basic needs such as school bags, geometry boxes, uniforms, etc,. Which were distributed by various members of the society.

Function With A Difference

Greetings to the members of kites

As you all know that we are helping around 20 needy students from three different schools namely Boys higher secondary school-arcot,Voorhees school-Vellore,Govt.boys High School-Gandhi Nagar by providing them with thier educational needs.Now,We have come up with an idea to conduct a programme for the physically challenged and mentally challenged children.

This function is to be held on sunday 12th september for the children in ANBU ILLAM in SAINATHAPURAM, VELLORE.This function is to actually create happiness among them by organising games for them, so that they are set apart from their day-to-day activities to enjoy the day with us.So, i kindly ask all the members be part of this day and to live the moment with them.Feel free to spread the word among our friends and welwishers.

It would be great if any member has a idea of what type of games or program to be conducted for them.Please give your idea in the Ideas and Suggestions Page.Volunteers who are intersted to be part of the arrangement of programs can give your names in the Ideas and Suggestions page under volunteers category. The volunteers just need to be present an hour before the program.Since This is a event which needs immense support from all of us and since this program is sheduled on sunday, all members are asked to make thier presence felt.

Enlightening The Dark

Greetings to all members of KITES ,
With immense regards I would like to update you on our Second Venture . As we have already decided to support the needs of a few children who are lacking proper parental care and so we need to join hands once again to bring this venture successfully .

As per our decision we have collected the details of a few students who are lacking proper parental care and these students are primarily from age groups belonging to Sixth Grade .We have planned to meet the requirements to their satisfaction and henceforth their needs would be obtained from them in person . We have planned this venture to be completed within the second week of September and so we would like your good self to contribute generously towards it On or before 7th September.

In addition to it we have also planned to publish the list of people who have contributed to KITES ; this list is being prepared and shortly it will be published .

The Event

Greetings to all members of KITES,

With immense gratitude, I would like to give my belated wishes for our 64th national milestone of our country .Let me update you with the highlights of our remarkable start to our first venture (Our first job).

A sound number of volunteers made their esteemed presence to enlighten the remarkable highlight of our first venture. The highlight of the event was the distribution of the notebooks to the students (to be precise their parent) .
The total expenditure for purchase of these notebooks was Rs.3300 but the pain taken to do such laborious activities were worth more.

Our esteemed volunteers of our society gave away the education needs for those students . The event had joy in the face of those personals who all received their educational needs for their children. And with a sigh of relief we can now remark that our first job had a good beginning.


And one of our members of KITES Mr.Anish made his presence to be felt in a house of a person whose daughter was mentally challenged and provided the medical aid for that person for this month -Rs 500 and has also assured to provide the medical aid for them when needed.
People are welcomed to do such activities.


Our next venture is to choose five different schools & then to select a moderate number of children from it who are in a real need and to provide their needs by interacting with them . This venture is to bloom shortly and Our members are requested to give their kind co-operation so that this venture would blossom with excellent fragrance .

Our First Job

Greetings to all members of kites ,

With immense pleasure I would like to convey the happenings of our First Job . As various complications were to dealt with, we were not able to finish "Our First Job" within the stipulated time.

With utmost care we have collected the needs of the students in and around Bramhapuram ;As the students have already paid their tuition fees we have planned to drop it for the time being. So we have planned to give them their educational needs such as Notebooks . We have bought the number of notebooks as per each student's requirements . These Notebooks are to be distributed on 15th August at SHRISHTI ,volunteers might give their esteemed presence .

School Uniform - as the students are studying at different Schools the purchase of their uniforms is been delayed but we would hopefully distribute them on the same day as mentioned earlier.

Our next venture is in its budding process .

The first step

I would like to inform that our first step is to provide educational needs for 25 students in and around Bhrammapuram.The list is as follows,

• Tution fees for 25 students per month : Rs 11,000
• Note books : Rs 2500
• School bags : Rs 2000
• Uniform : price yet to be finalised
• total budget : Around 20,000

So around Rs 200 per head would be needed to meet the requirements.I hope every one would contribute as much as they can.

The KITES is in the Air!!

The Kites is all set to fly high with the first meeting being a grand success.A great deal of thanks to the members of KITES for thier tremendous support.Around 70 people attended the meeting
which was held at the Shrishti school premises on saturday.

WHAT DID WE DO?
The meeting started around 11:00am with Anish and Navin addressing the gathering with thier ideas.They spoke briefly about the foundation of KITES,the objectives and aims of the society.It was followed by an interactive session with the gathered knights giving thier ideas and suggestions.Some interesting aspects that were discussed are,

• The promotional methods for KITES.
• The method for transaction of money.
• The ways of attaining sponsors.
• The different ideas for our future plan.

SO WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO?
The first help we decided to do is to provide educational needs for the poor students around BHRAMMAPURAM.The list of those students is already collected.Thier needs are looked into and will be finalised soon.

First official meeting

KITES is official now. We have registered KITES as a social society. Our next step is to help poor and deserving kids with all the basic needs for their education. A meeting will be organised in the coming days and all the members will be present. This is our first official meeting. The meeting will be held to discuss about all the needs and ways of selecting the kids. The meeting will be held on the upcoming saturday (26.6.2010), the location and time will be posted soon.

Members can come in with suggestions and ideas which will be considered.

We hope all the members attend the meeting.

Hi and welcome to the KITES website.
This society,formed by group of genuine students,is aimed at social welfare in India.Some initial ideas and aims of our society is to improve our neighbourhood, help the poor,develop the standard of living in concerned areas, provide versatile education to the illetrate people.
Though the benefit got from the society will be to a small group of people, we hope that in future this society will be successfull and provide a good deal of help to those who need it.Hope this society turns out to be the revolutionary one,that is able to stop the self-destruction of human kind.
